Margaret Caley is a Brisbane-based violinist specialising in Baroque violin. In recent years she has performed in the Brisbane Baroque Festival with the Orchestra of the Antipodes, in a live broadcast for ABC Classic FM with Resonance Duo, and in numerous festivals and concerts around Australia with Austral Harmony, Arioso Chamber Ensemble, Alchemy and the Badinerie Players. Previously Margaret studied baroque violin with Lucy van Dael at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, The Netherlands, after completing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in violin performance in Australia with Spiros Rantos, Tor Fromhyr and Jan Sedivka. She has been President of the Early Music Society of Queensland since 2016, and is an Instrumental Music teacher with Education Qld.
She lives in a classic Queenslander house in Corinda, Brisbane, with her geologist husband, two daughters, a cat, and three chooks, and finds at least a little time each day to enjoy sitting on the verandah.
